Welcome to the Atlantic Beach Sea Turtle Project‘s home online.

The Atlantic Beach Sea Turtle Project is a group of volunteers that helps ensure the progress, success and safety of nesting sea turtles, nests, and hatchlings during the sea turtle nesting season along the beach strand of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. Volunteers work under the volunteer coordinator’s Endangered Species Permit issued by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC).

We are one of the twenty permitted groups who work in the community science project, NC Sea Turtle Project. Atlantic Beach Sea Turtle Project Inc. (ABSTP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable corporation composed of a small group of dedicated volunteers who provide support to the larger volunteer organization.

We are grateful to the support of our sponsors, donors and volunteers, including the public and businesses who can help sea turtles with many simple actions they can do – like participating in our Lights Out Initiative.
